Just like any car, your Maserati needs regular maintenance to keep it in top shape. Skipping important maintenance could affect your car’s performance and increase the risk that you’ll have to pay for expensive repairs that you could have avoided.
To keep your Maserati in the best shape possible, make sure you schedule these maintenance services.
Yearly Maintenance Services
You should take your Maserati to a certified mechanic at least once a year. During the annual visit, your mechanic will replace the engine oil, oil filter, and pollen filter.
You may find this perplexing since a lot of people believe they need to have their oil changed every 3,000 miles or every three months, whichever comes first. While that’s true of older cars, many of today’s vehicles do not need such frequent oil changes. Many manufacturers currently recommend oil changes every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. As long as you use the recommended oil, Maserati believes you only need an oil change once per year.
Maintenance Services Every Other Year
Your mechanic needs to inspect several of your car’s components every other year to make sure you can avoid costly repairs. Every two years, your mechanic should inspect the vehicle’s alternator belt, hydraulic steering control fuel injection, braking system, and cooling system, among other parts. It’s a fairly long list, so give your mechanic plenty of time to do the job right.
Your car’s air filter is the only thing that must get changed every other year. The other systems and components depend on the inspection results.
Maserati Maintenance After Six Years
You should obviously have a mechanic inspect your vehicle at least once per year. Unless a part of your car shows signs of excessive wear and tear, though, you will receive the same services each year. That changes during the sixth year, though, when you need to replace your vehicle’s OBD-II system filter. After the sixth year, though, you will need to have the filter replaced once every four years.
The OBD-II system filter plays an important role in helping mechanics diagnose problems with your car. (OBD stands for on-board diagnostics.) If the filter gets clogged, then the diagnostics system can’t do its job properly.
Maintenance Services Every 10 to 14 Years
After 10 years, you need to have your Maserati’s water pump control belt replaced. Your mechanic will inspect it every year, but the belt gets replaced after 10 years to avoid failure. You don’t want your water pump to stop working suddenly when you’re on the expressway. Replacing it after 10 years helps you avoid that problem.
After 12 years, your car’s spark plugs are starting to go bad. Replacing them improves performance and helps lower fuel consumption.
After 14 years, your mechanic should change the vehicle’s active carbon filter and oxygen sensors. If those parts haven’t already died, then they will soon. Replacing them now helps your car mixture the right amount of air into your fuel.
Maserati designs its cars to last a long time. As long as you follow these recommendations, your vehicle will work fine for decades to come.
